Job summary

Quinnipiac University is seeking a Director of AI Strategy and Excellence to lead the enterprise AI roadmap, governance, and responsible use across the university. You will partner with academic and administrative leadership to align AI with teaching, research, and student success, while advancing innovation.

The role requires 10+ years in AI/tech strategy, strong governance expertise, and exceptional collaboration and communication skills to guide strategic investments and initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of AI, technology strategy, or digital transformation experience.
• Proven ability to design organization-wide strategies and frameworks.
• Expertise in AI governance, ethics, and enterprise systems integration.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and change-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Along with the CIO, develop and steward a unified AI strategy that aligns with the University’s mission, technology roadmap, and digital transformation goals.
• Define standards of excellence for AI use, including ethical frameworks, governance structures, and performance metrics.
• Partner with leadership across administrative and academic divisions to promote AI adoption that enhances institutional effectiveness, supports innovation, and respects academic priorities.
• Serve as a thought partner to University leaders, guiding the strategic use of AI to improve services, workflows, and decision making.
• Cultivate institutional and external partnerships to advance AI best practices and identify emerging opportunities.
• Promote institutional readiness by collaborating with IT units to ensure infrastructure, data integration, and support systems enable responsible AI use.
• Lead communication and engagement efforts to build awareness and confidence in enterprise AI initiatives across the campus community.
• Benchmark institutional progress in AI maturity and recommend strategic investments to accelerate responsible innovation.
