Job summary

Yahoo Finance is seeking a Director, Editorial Programming to lead content scheduling across our homepage, mobile, app, and push alerts. You will set the vision, standards, and decision framework for how stories are surfaced, packaged, and distributed in real time.

You will build and mentor an editorial team across time zones, partner with product and engineering, and use analytics to drive decisions. The role requires strong news judgment, collaboration, and a track record of leading coverage

Qualifications

• 10+ years in digital news or editorial leadership.
• 7+ years of direct people management.
• Proven news judgment in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong understanding of digital programming fundamentals: homepage editing, headline and image selection, SEO best practices, and push notification strategy.
• Experience working with product and engineering on CMS tools and editorial workflows.
• Comfort with analytics tools to inform decisions and drive performance.
• Willingness to support a 24/7 news operation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own editorial programming strategy across Yahoo Finance's surfaces, setting vision and standards for surface, packaging, and distribution of content.
• Lead push notification function with strategy, audience targeting, cadence, protocols, and performance expectations.
• Mentor and develop an editorial team across time zones with clear expectations and feedback.
• Staffing and scheduling to ensure coverage across hours, platforms, and major news cycles.
• Own programming KPIs across web, app, and alerts; embed analytics to guide decisions.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to shape roadmap for push capabilities and tools.
• Create distribution plans for major news moments and company priorities.
• Build partnerships across editorial, video, social, SEO, product, engineering, and analytics.
