Job summary

Legion is seeking a Director of Engineering, DevOps & SRE to lead the teams responsible for the availability, reliability, and security of our production environment. This is a hands-on leadership role with ~20-30% hands-on contribution to architecture, tooling, and incident response.

You’ll hire and build a globally distributed DevOps/SRE team, own the reliability roadmap on AWS (EKS, RDS), drive security operations, implement IaC and CI/CD, and promote observability.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years in DevOps, SRE, or production infra with people management.
• Hands-on AWS production workloads including EKS, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, S3.
• Experience running SecOps: vulnerability management and incident response.
• 5+ years using observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana) to improve reliability.
• Strong IaC experience (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD automation.
• Proficient in Go, Python, or Bash; Git and CI/CD pipelines in daily use.
• Proven cross-functional partnership with engineering and IT on infra standards.
• Experience leading incident management and on-call for high-availability systems.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hire and build a globally-distributed DevOps/SRE team.
• Own reliability and infrastructure roadmap for AWS-based production (EKS, RDS).
• Lead SecOps including vulnerability management and incident response.
• Define and drive engineering OKRs for infrastructure reliability and security.
• Champion observability and alerting (Datadog), automate triage and response.
• Drive IaC, CI/CD, and automation to boost engineering velocity.
• Align infrastructure standards and access controls with IT partners.
• Ensure security, compliance, and data protection; maintain audit-readiness.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident management.
• Stay current on cloud, DevOps, and security best practices; provide guidance.
