Job summary

Cowbell Cyber Inc. is seeking a Director, Claims in the United States to lead a team of cyber claims professionals and drive strategy, performance, and customer service.

You will work with internal stakeholders and external parties to adjudicate cyber claims efficiently and compliantly. Responsibilities include coverage investigations, reserves management, and collaboration with leadership to improve processes, automation, and cross-functional initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of cyber claims handling experience.
• At least 2 years of people leadership experience.
• Strong skills in coverage, claim evaluation and negotiation.
• Exceptional organizational and presentation abilities.
• Experience working in a collaborative team environment and cross-functional teams.
• JD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead claims handling and management tasks including coverage investigations and letters; manage external incident response teams; evaluate coverage and liabilities; manage reserves and files; oversee defense and coverage counsel and reinsurers.
• Proactively manage claims and litigation while delivering outstanding customer service.
• Support claims team and collaborate with company leadership.
• Provide regular communication with customers, brokers, and cross-functional departments.
• Present claims in writing and orally; obtain authority for complex claims and plan actions.
• Assist with marketing claim services and conduct presentations to policyholders, brokers, reinsurers, and partners.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and digital transformation within the claims department.
• Develop KPIs and metrics to evaluate claims department performance.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure regulatory compliance and internal policies.
• Stay updated on insurance laws and best practices to ensure compliant operations.
• Develop and implement internal controls to meet regulatory requirements.
• Review complex/high-value claim files and guide adjusters toward fair settlements.
• Monitor trends to improve efficiency, mitigate risk, and control costs.
• Foster a positive culture and professional development within the team.
