Job summary

Transwestern in Houston, TX seeks a Director of Risk Management – Construction & Development to identify, evaluate, and manage construction risk across a national portfolio of ground-up developments and major capital projects.

The role partners with Development, Legal, Procurement, and Operations to ensure robust risk transfer, insurance placement, and loss prevention strategies throughout the project lifecycle. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, business, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in construction risk management, insurance, or related field.
• Certifications such as CRM or FRM are a plus.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and mitigate construction risk exposures across ground-up developments and major projects.
• Oversee construction-related insurance programs (Builder’s Risk, OCIP/CCIP, liability).
• Review contracts to ensure indemnities, insurance requirements, and risk transfer.
• Manage claims, coordinate with carriers and legal counsel, and analyze loss trends.
• Lead safety and loss prevention efforts and provide executive reporting.
• Support enterprise risk governance and RMIS data accuracy.
