Job summary

American Homes 4 Rent is seeking a Director of Construction to lead market construction activities, ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and safety across multiple communities. You will hire, train, and support staff while coordinating with subcontractors, engineers, and inspectors.

The role requires 7+ years in residential construction project management, strong budgeting and scheduling skills, and proficiency in BuildPro, JD Edwards, and MS Office. A safety-focused leader will thrive here.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering or related field preferred.
• Minimum seven (7) years in new home construction project management, overseeing multiple communities.

Responsibilities

• Manages homebuilding construction team to deliver quality homes on time and on budget.
• Schedules and supervises daily trade partner activities and subcontractors.
• Interacts with city inspectors and other departments to ensure compliance.
• Conducts Quality Assurance inspections and documents findings.
• Maintains construction documents at the job site for accessibility.
• Inspects work for compliance with building codes; schedules inspections.
• Orders materials and manages inventory; collaborates with Purchasing on change orders.
• Maintains knowledge of building codes and OSHA safety regulations.
