Job summary

Secretariat is seeking a seasoned professional to join our Construction Delay Team in Atlanta. You will conduct research, analyze large datasets, and quantify delays and damages for major construction projects, drafting expert reports for litigation and arbitration.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in construction project management or cost controls, strong MS Office/Primavera skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff. Travel up to ~20% and excellent communication are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in building construction, engineering, or related field.
• Qualification in construction law or law preferred
• 10 or more years’ experience in construction project management, scheduling, or cost controls
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience at a dispute consulting firm
• Strong skills with MS Office, MS Project, Primavera P3/P6, Suretrak
• Familiar with delay analysis methodology including static delay analysis
• Excellent written and verbal skills including drafting reports for litigation/arbitration
• Experience mentoring and developing junior staff
• Detail oriented with ability to explain technical material to non-technical audiences
• Ability to travel generally under 20%
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
• Flexible, creative problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated judgement and critical thinking
• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Research and fact-finding: review technical and non-technical docs to identify key details for expert reports
• Detailed data analysis: review large datasets to identify trends and anomalies for cost/schedule overruns
• Quantification of delays and damages: calculate schedule delays and cost overruns for large projects and draft expert reports
• Economic modeling: analyze financial and market data to determine lost profits from delays
• Management: oversee small to medium engagements, staff supervision, and client interactions
• Business development: assist in proposals and client presentations
• Case strategy: help identify best approaches to litigation/arbitration matters
