Job summary

AmTrust Financial Services seeks a Director, Claims for its General Liability group. You will lead a high-exposure team across multiple jurisdictions, directing coverage analysis, liability assessment, damages evaluation, and settlement strategy while mentoring staff.

Qualifications include 5+ years in insurance leadership, 10+ years in multi-line claims, and a strong grasp of tort/contract law. This role requires strong negotiation, leadership, and cross-office collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in the insurance industry.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive claims experience across commercial liability lines.
• Multi-jurisdictional claims expertise.
• Strong understanding of tort and contract law, liability insurance, and coverage principles.
• Proven ability to manage diverse teams across multiple offices.

Responsibilities

• Owns the development and performance of a General Liability claims team and ensures quality resolutions.
• Assigns new claims to team members based on complexity and staff capability.
• Oversees investigation, reserving, litigation management, and settlement of claims.
• Provides technical guidance on coverage, liability, and damages issues.
• Ensures timely, high-quality service and analyzes customer experience.
• Performs regular manager reviews and maintains policy compliance.
• Leads claims roundtables and drives process improvement initiatives.
• Manages personnel administration, evaluations, and development.
• Prepares reports and monitors system data for regulatory adherence.
• Maintains awareness of evolving legal/regulatory developments affecting GL claims.
