Job summary

Capital One seeks a Director, Business Risk and Governance (Regulatory Lead) to guide the Commercial Underwriting and Portfolio Management organization. The role requires deep regulatory expertise and the ability to advise senior management on commercial credit matters, governance, and remediation across UW&PM activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or military experience.
• At least 8 years of regulatory experience in a regulatory body or advisory role at a commercial bank.
• At least 10 years of experience in a regulatory role within the commercial banking industry.
• Experience across lending products including cash flow lending, real estate lending or structured products.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the business unit’s resident expert on regulatory matters surrounding commercial credit topics.
• Stay current on regulatory expectations and inform the business unit of anticipated regulatory actions.
• Collaborate with risk, review, and regulatory relations teams to address key changes.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on regulatory reporting and drive conformance to requirements.
• Ensure governance routines are in conformance with regulatory and enterprise expectations.
• Ensure all regulatory documentation requirements are met and results are positive.
• Establish a framework to evaluate transactions from Credit Review/regulatory perspectives.
• Lead in-business counsel for UW&PM teams at the transaction level.
• Remediate escalated findings efficiently with cross-functional teams.
• Act as liaison between UW&PM and Commercial Fraud to identify risk opportunities.
• Manage multiple, complex initiatives with project management discipline.
