Job summary

Veeam is seeking a US-based Director, Commercial Legal to lead the Americas Commercial Legal team, reporting to the Senior Director, Commercial Legal. You will lead a four-to-five lawyer team while remaining an active contributor, negotiating complex software transactions and guiding strategic deals.

You will partner with Sales, Deal Desk, and stakeholders to drive consistency, provide practical legal advice, and balance risk with commercial priorities.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S.-licensed attorney with 12+ years of post-qualification experience in a leading law firm and/or in-house, including software/tech sector.
• Proven people leadership experience with coaching and developing lawyers.
• Extensive hands-on experience negotiating and closing complex software/SaaS agreements in a fast-paced sales environment.

Responsibilities

• Partner with EMEA counterpart to drive consistency across contracting positions, templates, playbooks, and processes.
• Negotiate and close a significant portfolio of high-value agreements including software, SaaS, BaaS, professional services, and channel transactions.
• Provide clear, practical legal advice balancing legal, regulatory, privacy, and commercial considerations with business needs.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Americas Commercial Legal team with clear expectations and growth.
• Build partnerships with Sales and leadership to align on pipeline and priorities for resource focus.
• Develop and deliver training to enable Sales and stakeholders to navigate contracting processes effectively.
• Serve as escalation point for complex matters, guiding teams while maintaining ownership and informing leadership of trends and resourcing needs.
• Foster a collaborative culture across the global Commercial Legal team and drive continuous improvement.
