Job summary

Dollar Tree Stores is seeking a Claims Director to lead the development and execution of risk control strategies and litigation management for a high-volume claims portfolio in the United States.

The role focuses on reducing claim costs through strategic case development, collaboration with internal partners, external counsel, and TPAs, and oversight of defense budgets and reserves. Travel will be required as needed.

Qualifications

• JD and active state bar membership is required if serving as Counsel.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible claims and/or litigation experience across multiple states.
• Experience managing high-severity and complex litigated claims, including strategy and settlements.
• Experience working with outside defense counsel, TPAs, carriers, brokers, and other claims partners.
• Strong knowledge of general and auto liability and litigation management.
• Ability to travel as needed in the role.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex litigated general liability, auto liability, and other claims to reduce costs and improve outcomes.
• Develop and review case strategies with internal business partners.
• Coordinate with Third Party Administrators, outside counsel and investigators on liability matters.
• Manage defense firm performance and budgets; approve reserves and expenses.
• Provide updates to insurance carriers and senior leadership on high severity cases.
• Lead audits and data analysis to optimize claims program costs and outcomes.
• Ensure data preservation for legal holds and coordinate cross-functional risk initiatives.
