Turo, the world’s largest car sharing marketplace, seeks a Director of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships in San Francisco to define and lead a partnerships strategy, identify and execute high-impact alliances, and drive growth, profitability, and guest experience.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in BD/strategy, executive presence, and extensive experience with OTAs, payments, airlines, and travel distributors.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in business development, partnerships and/or strategy.
  • Excellent communication and executive presence.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Experience developing partnerships with OTAs, credit card companies, airlines, hotels, travel aggregators and other distribution channels.
  • Self-directed and entrepreneurial, with rigorous measurement of outcomes.
  • Strong analytical capability, including ROI, incrementality and partnership performance.
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize, delegate and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the overall strategy for building and scaling a portfolio of partnerships that expands Turo's reach and drives profitable growth across new and existing partnership channels.
  • Identify, negotiate, and execute innovative partnerships with key strategic partners including structuring creative commercial frameworks and product solutions that drive measurable business impact.
  • Track, analyze, and optimize partnership performance; own reporting and business reviews with leadership, including metrics such as unit economics, ROAS, efficiency, incrementality, and financial performance.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, PR, Legal, and leadership to influence product roadmaps, support partner launches, and ensure successful ongoing partner integrations.
  • Develop and manage a team of Business Development & Partnership Managers while building scalable processes to support complex partnerships, integrations, and ongoing operational needs.
  • Serve as the primary internal advocate for partners and represent Turo externally with partner leadership teams and at industry events, ensuring strong executive relationships and alignment.

At Turo, we’re reinventing rentals and re-establishing the car as an icon of independence and individual agency. We’re seeking an experienced, strategic leader to join our team as Director of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships. This role requires deep expertise across travel, technology, and adjacent industries, along with strong analytical rigor, strategic insight, stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization and with external partners. You will define and lead a comprehensive partnerships strategy, identifying, evaluating, and executing high-impact partnerships that drive growth, profitability, and a best-in-class guest experience. You will build and manage a portfolio of strategic partnerships while working closely with senior executives and cross-functional teams across Turo. The ideal candidate is relentlessly focused on creating and scaling partnerships that expand Turo’s reach—growing our existing customer base, launching new acquisition channels, and strengthening our brand. You will own critical components of Turo’s business development roadmap and play a key role in shaping the future of mobility and car ownership. What you will do

Your profile
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in business development, partnerships and/or strategy.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with strong executive presence.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field; or relevant work experience in business development or business management.
  • Deep understanding and extensive experience developing partnerships with OTAs, credit card companies, airlines, hotels, travel aggregators, distribution partners and other potential Turo demand channels.
  • Self-directed and entrepreneurial, with the ability to pioneer new approaches while rigorously measuring outcomes.
  • Strong analytical capability, including experience defining, tracking, and evaluating ROI, incrementality, and partnership financial performance.
  • Highly organized, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, delegate effectively, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong data-driven problem-solving and decision-making skills, with sound judgment under pressure.
  • Demonstrates Turo’s values through work product and within day to day team interactions.

Target base salary

For this role, the target base salary range in San Francisco is $212,000 - $265,000 annually. This role is also eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits. In general, our ranges reflect the market-based target for new hire salaries based on the level and location of the role. Within the range, individual pay is determined by objective factors assessed during the application and interview process, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Work arrangement
