We are hiring for a Director of Business Development to join our dynamic team! This is a fantastic opportunity for a strategic thinker and results-driven professional who is passionate about driving growth and building strong relationships.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Business Development will play a crucial role in driving transformative growth and margin enhancement through strategic inorganic investments. This position is instrumental in executing Cencora's strategic direction by identifying and capitalizing on high-value acquisition and partnership opportunities within Cencora’s target markets. The Director will collaborate closely with senior leadership to leverage mergers and acquisitions (M&A) as key growth enablers. The incumbent will proactively source and cultivate potential targets, develop compelling strategic investment theses, and oversee comprehensive due diligence processes to ensure successful execution of business development initiatives.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Development leadership

  • Partner with senior leadership to develop and execute a comprehensive inorganic (M&A, partnerships, etc.) strategy for Cencora’s target markets that advances the overall enterprise and business unit strategy.
  • Conduct specialized market analysis to support end-market strategies developed by the Strategic Development group.

Deal Sourcing, Evaluation, and Execution

  • Build a proactive funnel of targets and execute cultivation plans to create strategic opportunities.
  • Develop comprehensive deal theses based on market research and strategic knowledge, collaborating with the business team to identify value creation opportunities.
  • Partner with Corporate Development to develop ROIC models and establish assumptions to evaluate value drivers.
  • Navigate deal stage gate processes to drive deal progression and closure.

Deal Diligence and Execution

  • Lead cross-functional diligence to assess assets and identify impacts on valuation.
  • Engage subject matter experts for deal-specific assessments to inform decision-making.
  • Identify key risks and develop integration action plans post-deal.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Typically requires 8+ years of experience in consulting, investment banking, or business leadership with inorganic activity.
  • Significant experience in Healthcare and MedTech sectors.
  • MBA and technical degrees are preferred.

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven track record of successful business transformation and leading organizations through change.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and market trend interpretation skills.
  • Excellent executive presence and communication skills for presenting to senior leadership.
  • Experience in deal origination, cultivation, and due diligence processes.
  • Ability to foster cross-functional collaboration and leadership.
  • Deep industry knowledge and ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Effective project management and problem-solving skills.
