Job summary

Sierra Club is seeking a Director of the Beyond Coal Campaign for a remote US role. You will lead fundraising, steward major donors, manage a sizable budget, and shape strategy to retire coal plants and accelerate clean energy.

This is a senior leadership position with cross‑department collaboration and direct staff supervision. You will drive equity and inclusion throughout campaign work, partner with foundation funders, and represent the organization with donors and media.

Qualifications

• Track record fundraising and donor stewardship.
• Demonstrated leadership of campaigns or organizations.
• Budget management at large scale with ROI focus.
• Strong strategic planning and theory of change.
• Commitment to equity, climate justice, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Lead fundraising for the Beyond Coal Campaign and secure multi‑million grants.
• Manage donor relationships; lead grant deliverables and reporting.
• Oversee budget and resource allocation to meet campaign goals.
• Direct campaign strategy, planning, and evaluation at national level.
• Provide strategic leadership and supervision to campaign staff (up to 6).
• Represent the organization as spokesperson and liaison with stakeholders.
