Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems for remote US operations. You will oversee the Automation & Controls team, collaborating with engineering to drive innovation and manufacturing optimization while supporting production facilities.

The role emphasizes strategic capital planning, safety, and continuous improvement. The position reports to manufacturing leadership, with a focus on integrating machine standards and delivering cross-functional solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; required.
10+ years of manufacturing experience.
Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
Proven experience leading a team directly or indirectly.
Proven ability to build partnerships across functions.
Working knowledge of CAD, HMI development, PLCs, G-Suite and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

Lead all functions of Automation and Controls group.
Contribute to 3– and 5-year capital plans for facilities.
Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Eng, R&D to integrate Automation and Controls.
Manage all financial responsibilities of the team (capitalized projects, budgets, reporting).
Guide project implementation from development to deployment; ensure documentation is current.
Provide leadership and foster a collaborative, customer-service oriented environment.
Promote safety excellence and ensure compliance with corporate safety standards.
