Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to lead the Automation & Controls team, partnering with engineering to drive innovation and manufacturing optimization. You will influence capital planning and align with cross-functional leaders while ensuring operational support across production facilities.

The role emphasizes leadership, safety, and continuous education to keep pace with emerging technologies that improve manufacturing processes and machine health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
• Proven leadership experience and ability to build partnerships.
• Strong knowledge of CAD, HMI, PLC, and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all functions of the Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3- and 5-year capital plans for manufacturing facilities.
• Coordinate with IT, Process Services, R&D and others to integrate automation.
• Manage capital projects, budgets, and financial reporting for the team.
• Ensure software is identified and implemented across operations systems.
• Maintain documentation for controls systems and drive process improvements.
