Job summary

GAF seeks a Director of Automation and Control Systems to lead the Automation & Controls team, partnering with engineering to drive continuous innovation and manufacturing optimization. You will influence capital planning and align cross-functional priorities while supporting production facilities.

The role emphasizes strategic leadership, safety culture, and collaboration with IT, R&D, and process services to advance machine health and control systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• 10+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
• Proven experience leading a team.
• Proven relationship building and development of partnerships.
• Working knowledge of CAD, HMI, PLCs, G-Suite, and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3 & 5 year capital plans for facilities.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Eng, and R&D to integrate Automation and Controls.
• Oversee financials: capital projects, budgets, and reporting for the team.
• Guide software identification and implementation with operations systems team.
• Ensure documentation and controls standards are maintained.
