Job summary

Cambium Assessment, Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager of Automated Scoring to lead a cross-disciplinary ML team focused on NLP-driven scoring, feedback, and crisis content detection for K-12 and higher education assessments.

You will guide the design of studies, publish research, and collaborate with stakeholders to advance our products across multiple modalities. The role emphasizes mentorship, strategic planning, and driving state-of-the-art automated scoring solutions in a remote-first

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in psychometrics/measurement, NLP, statistics, or related field.
• 10+ years in k-12 assessment.
• 8+ years leading teams of software developers, NLP scientists, and data scientists.
• Experience with client-facing work and presentations.
• Established publication record in NLP for k-12 assessment.

Responsibilities

• Lead innovation in natural language applications for automated scoring and crisis content detection.
• Advance ML for feedback in student writing and large-scale assessments.
• Publish research and contribute to CAI’s leadership.
• Provide mentorship to a team of Scientists and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Design studies to obtain, score, model, and examine results for NLP applications.
• Present at planning and technical advisory meetings.
