Job summary

Sutter Health is seeking a Director of APC Clinical Education and Student Placement to lead systemwide APC education and student placement strategies across the organization. You will partner with academic partners and clinical leaders to expand high-quality training opportunities for NP, PA, and CNM students.

This leadership role emphasizes establishing standardized placement processes, evaluating outcomes, and advancing educational quality while aligning with Destination 2030 workforce goals.

Qualifications

• Licensure as NP/APRN or PA-C with active California licensure.
• Minimum five years of clinical practice experience.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical teaching, precepting, learner supervision, or health professions education.
• Experience leading projects, programs, or educational initiatives.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work across diverse clinical, operational, and academic environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide systemwide oversight of APC student placements across Sutter Health.
• Develop and implement strategies to expand high-quality clinical training opportunities.
• Partner with clinical leaders to optimize placement capacity and learner distribution.
• Establish standardized processes and expectations for APC placements.
• Monitor metrics, capacity utilization, learner demand, and partnerships.
• Develop and maintain strong academic partnerships to support pipeline goals.
• Collaborate to align clinical experiences with curricular objectives and accreditation requirements.
• Promote excellence in clinical education and establish evaluation standards.
• Oversee APC preceptor recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies.
• Coordinate placement workflows, logistics, and compliance with policies and accreditation.
