Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking a Director, Head of AI Risk Governance to lead the enterprise AI risk oversight program. You will set the strategic direction, partner with technology, risk, compliance, and business functions, and drive consistent governance outcomes across the company.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industry.
• Extensive experience in risk management and enterprise governance programs.
• Experience managing, developing, and prioritizing teams with coaching and performance management.
• Strong knowledge of AI techniques, lifecycle risks, and governance practices for generative/agentic AI.
• Ability to influence senior leaders across large organizations without direct authority.
• Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder influence skills.
• Attention to detail and ownership of high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Set the strategic direction and roadmap for the AI risk governance program.
• Coordinate enterprise AI risk governance activities across tech, cyber, risk, compliance, legal and business functions.
• Lead reviews of generative/agentic AI use cases in line with policies.
• Develop executive-ready materials and reports on AI risk governance, risks, metrics, and remediation.
• Design and maintain AI risk policies, standards, procedures, and program documentation.
• Tee up and manage governance routines, inventories, risk assessments, monitoring, and reporting.
