Job summary

Life360 is seeking a Director of AI Platforms to lead a team shaping how AI is integrated into our member experience. You’ll drive the PDLC, define AI inference and production features, and partner with security, privacy, and legal to build trust and safeguards.

Reporting to the CSO, the role offers a US-based salary range of $216,500 to $318,500 and equity in RSUs, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Remote-first environment with flexible location within the US.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience.
• 5+ years leading engineering teams that build platforms.
• Experience building production AI systems (LLMs, retrieval, evals).
• Familiarity with MCP and agent orchestration.
• Strong communication with executives and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Set the direction for the AI Platforms team with a clear roadmap.
• Lead and scale the team to full capacity through hiring and development.
• Build and evolve the shared AI platform: model access, routing, agent runtime, MCP integrations, evals, identity, cost controls.
• Define and own our AI end-user platforms, enabling a multiplayer ecosystem with agents.
• Partner with core teams to evolve the Agentic PDLC, tooling, environments, and workflows for AI agents to plan, write, test, review, and ship code.
• Extend the platform from internal productivity to the product, enabling production AI features at member scale.
• Drive adoption by creating paved paths, reusable components, and enablement for engineers.
• Collaborate with Security, Privacy, and Legal to embed data handling and safeguards from day one.
• Define and report outcomes like adoption, quality, cost per outcome, and time to ship.
• Stay close to the work, review designs, unblock teams, and make build-versus-buy calls as tech evolves.
