Job summary

Capital One, a leader in responsible AI, is seeking an experienced AI Engineer Director to oversee foundation model training, inference, and AI governance. You will lead a multi‑disciplinary team, drive strategic AI initiatives, and ensure scalable, compliant AI systems across the enterprise.

You will partner with engineers, researchers, and product managers to deliver high‑impact AI products, set technical direction, and mentor staff while advancing the company’s AI strategy in Cambridge, MA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/AI/EE/CE with required experience
• At least 3 years of people leadership experience
• Experience deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms is preferred

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver AI-powered products
• Oversee design, development, testing, deployment and support of AI software components
• Make build‑vs‑buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI tech
• Invent optimization techniques to improve performance of large scale AI systems
• Contribute to long‑term AI platform roadmaps
• Mentor and grow AI engineering talent
• Scale AI practices across teams with shared infrastructure and governance
• Establish enterprise standard for Responsible AI and audit readiness
• Collaborate with research, compliance and risk teams on standards

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields
