Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI engineering leader to drive production-grade AI systems. You will partner with engineers, researchers, PMs, and other stakeholders to design, deploy, and optimize AI-enabled products that impact millions of customers and associates.

You will own foundation model optimization, governance, and observability, while guiding a team through a landscape of OSS and cloud AI technologies. This role emphasizes responsible AI and scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Master’s in CS/AI/EE/CE with relevant AI/ML experience.
• 3+ years of people leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver AI-powered products with cross-functional teams.
• Oversee AI software components including model training and inference.
• Make build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI tech.
• Invent optimization techniques to improve performance, cost, and latency.
• Contribute to the long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems.
• Mentor and develop team members; foster learning and growth.
• Translate AI strategy into portfolio-level execution across product areas.
• Scale AI engineering through shared infrastructure and governance frameworks.
• Establish enterprise standards for Responsible AI and governance.
• Partner with research, compliance, and risk teams to meet standards.
