Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director AI Engineer to lead the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences AI platform. You will guide cross-functional teams to build scalable AI systems, optimize foundation models, and establish responsible AI practices while shaping the long-term AI roadmap.

You will mentor engineers, drive architecture decisions, and partner with compliance and risk to deliver high-impact AI capabilities across Capital One products and services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, AI, Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field with 6+/8+ years in AI/ML.
• At least 3 years of people leadership experience.
• Experience deploying scalable and responsible AI on cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Oversee design, development, testing, deployment and support of AI software components.
• Make build-vs-buy decisions across OSS and SaaS AI tech.
• Invent optimization techniques to improve performance, cost, latency and throughput.
• Contribute to the long-term AI platform roadmap.
• Attract and develop top AI talent and foster a learning culture.
• Translate enterprise AI strategy into portfolio plans across product areas.
• Scale AI engineering practices with shared infra and governance.
• Establish enterprise standard for Responsible AI, including metrics and audits.
• Collaborate with research, compliance, and risk teams to meet standards.
