Job summary

Mercury Insurance Company seeks a Director to lead the Cross-Line AI/ML Research & Capability team within Product R&D. The role shapes research across lines of business, builds reusable capabilities, modernizes workflows, and applies AI to accelerate insight generation, model development, monitoring, and product innovation.

This high-impact leadership role blends strategy and execution, partnering with Product R&D, MTS, and EDS to deliver scalable tools, guardrails, and automated research

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field or related discipline.
• Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
• 8+ years in predictive modeling, ML, analytics; 5+ years leadership.
• Strong Python and modern ML framework experience; GenAI/LLM familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-line AI/ML research strategy across multiple lines of business.
• Build reusable tooling, modernize research workflows, and monitor models.
• Partner with Product R&D, MTS, and EDS to shape technical environment.
• Design guardrails for responsible AI usage and explainability.
• Coach talent in a hybrid environment and drive adoption of new capabilities.
