Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Directional Drill Operator/Locator to support installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable. You will work in a safety-minded environment, develop new skills, and help expand technology for a better community.

This long-term, hands-on role offers competitive pay, strong benefits, and the chance to contribute to local projects. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of urban directional drilling experience and a valid CDL/DOT readiness.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of utility directional drilling experience in an urban environment.
• Experience with different-sized Vermeer or Ditch Witch drills.
• Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for the project build process.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a DOT med card for driving purposes; CDL preferred.
• Safety-focused and committed to high quality work.
• Willing to work on long-term projects and be home daily.

Responsibilities

• Support directional drilling for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.
• Operate a horizontal directional bore with the Drill Locator.
• Ensure safety of the public and other underground facilities.
• Read utility maps and coordinate daylighting of facilities.
• Transport heavy equipment to and from the job site daily.
