Job summary

MasTec Communications Group seeks a Directional Drill Operator/Locator to support underground conduit and fiber optic installations. You will operate bore equipment, collaborate with the locator, and ensure safety and accuracy in the field.

You must have at least 2 years of urban directional drilling experience, be able to read maps and diagrams, and hold a valid Class A CDL. The role includes a rotating schedule and per diem travel, with strong growth potential within MasTec.

Qualifications

• Safety is a daily priority and quality work is expected.
• At least 2 years of utility directional drilling in urban environments.
• Experience reading maps, drawings, and diagrams for builds.
• Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel 7 days per diem on a rotating schedule.
• Open to long-term opportunities with consistent work.

Responsibilities

• Support directional drilling for underground conduit and fiber optic installations.
• Operate a horizontal directional bore with the locator to install systems.
• Ensure public safety and protect existing underground facilities.
• Read locates and coordinate daylighting of facilities.
• Transport heavy equipment to and from job sites daily.
• Travel 100% on rotation; 50-60 hours per week depending on weather.
• Support telecom projects of varying durations.
