Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Directional Drill Operator/Locator to support horizontal drilling for underground conduits and fiber optic cables. You will work safely, collaborate with the drill team, and contribute to high-quality installations across projects.

Responsibilities include operating bore equipment, reading maps and diagrams, and transporting gear daily. CDL preferred; DOT medical card required later. Competitive hourly pay and a solid benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

• You have at least 2 years of utility directional drilling experience in an urban environment.
• Experience with different-sized Vermeer or Ditch Witch drills.
• Ability to read maps, drawings and diagrams for project build.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a DOT med card (CDL preferred).

Responsibilities

• Support directional drilling for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.
• Operate a horizontal directional bore with Drill Locator to install coax and fiber systems.
• Ensure the safety of the public and other underground utility facilities.
• Read utility locates and coordinate daylighting of facilities.
• Transport heavy equipment to and from the job site each day.
