Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is hiring a Directional Drill Operator/Locator in Mansfield, TX to support underground conduit and fiber installations. You will work with a team to perform sub-surface boring, locate utilities, and ensure safe operations while maintaining quality workmanship.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years HDD experience, CDL Class A, and the ability to read maps/diagrams. This is a hands-on role with daily equipment transport and community safety in mind.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of utility directional drilling experience in an urban environment.
• Experience with Vermeer or Ditch Witch drills.
• Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
• Ability to read maps, drawings and diagrams for project build process.
• Safety-focused and team orientated.

Responsibilities

• Locate for Horizontal Directional Driller for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.
• Operate a horizontal directional bore in collaboration with the Drill Locator to install coax and fiber systems.
• Ensure the safety of the public and other underground utilities.
• Read utility locates and coordinate day lighting of facilities.
• Transport heavy equipment to and from the job site daily.

As a Directional Drill Operator/Locator, you will support directional drilling for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Locate for Horizontal Directional Driller for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.
• Operate a horizontal directional bore in collaboration with the Drill Locator to successfully install coax and fiber systems

• Read utility locates and coordinates day lighting of these facilities
• Transport heavy equipment to and from the job site each day

Qualifications

• You have the ability to read and understand maps, drawings and diagrams for project build process
• You have a valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record

Compensation of $20-$25 per hour.
