Job summary

Ada S McKinley Community Services Inc in Chicago, IL seeks a Direct Support Person (DSP) to provide direct services for adults living in our Day Services program. The DSP supports daily living and program activities, and documents progress toward each person’s ISP.

Reporting to the Lead QIDP, the DSP will implement training, foster inclusion, and maintain records. This role requires empathy, teamwork, and the ability to coordinate with other staff and external services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 18+ years old preferred.
• 6 months DSP/CNA/Caregiver experience or working with disabled individuals.
• Demonstrated cultural sensitivity to clients.
• Ability to partner with clients and families to mobilize resources.
• Ability to coordinate with team members and outside services.

Responsibilities

• Implements training programs to increase independence, personal care, motor, communication, and social skills.
• Establishes a secure, positive environment for clients.
• Sets up jobs and training situations.
• Assists in determining simplified work/training methods to meet client needs.
• Facilitates client inclusion in community activities.
• Maintains attendance, production, training, and progress reports.
