Methodist Home for Children in Edenton, NC is seeking Direct Support Staff for our transitional living facility. You’ll mentor teens, provide daily support, and help them build life skills toward independence, in a structured, caring environment.

Starting salary is $31,200+ per year, based on education and experience, with benefits including holidays, health coverage, and retirement options. This on-site role requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years old or older.
• High school diploma required; experience working with youth preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to live onsite while on shift (3 days/nights in a row), including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

First Things First... What Is a Transitional Living Facility?

For teens on probation who can’t safely return home from a youth development center or other residential placement, these group homes offer 6 to 12 months of real preparation for adult life. Young people here finish school, explore career paths, get jobs, earn driver’s licenses, and learn the practical skills that independence requires: budgeting, cooking, managing bills. We don’t just prepare them to leave; we prepare them to thrive.

What do Direct Support Staff do?

As a Direct Support Staff member, you’ll be a mentor, coach, and role model. You’ll provide structure, discipline, and support, helping young men build the skills and confidence they need to turn their lives around.
