Job summary

Serenity is hiring Direct Support Professionals to provide one-on-one support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in homes and communities across all 21 New Jersey counties. The role is available Full-Time, Part-Time, and Per Diem with pay ranging from $21.50 to $26.50 per hour.

Responsibilities include facilitating community activities, teaching daily living skills, assisting with personal care and medication reminders, and ensuring safety in transportation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle.
• Ability to pass background checks and screenings.
• Smartphone or computer access for documentation.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Experience with I/DD preferred; CPR/First Aid training provided if needed.

Responsibilities

• Support community activities, appointments, errands, and social opportunities.
• Teach daily living skills (cooking, cleaning, budgeting, shopping).
• Assist with personal care and medication reminders as authorized.
• Provide safe transportation.
• Follow individualized service plans and person-centered goals.
• Complete timely service notes and required documentation.
• Promote independence, dignity, choice, and self-advocacy.
