Job summary

The Arc Montgomery County is seeking Direct Support Staff in Derwood/Silver Spring, MD area. The role involves empowering adults with developmental disabilities through community-based activities, personal supports, and safe living in multiple homes.

You will help members pursue goals, maintain routines, and participate in meaningful daily life. Shift cues include Monday–Friday, 3:00pm–11:00pm; eligible new hires can receive up to $1,000 as a hiring incentive.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; age 18+.
• Valid US driver’s license.
• Fluent reading/writing in English.
• Assist with activities of daily living.
• Lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Stand/walk prolonged periods; bend/reach.
• Pass 6th grade math and reading test in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide supports to promote personal goals and community participation.
• Create community living experiences across homes and activities.
• Ensure safety and well-being; supervise and assist with life management.
• Support daily living and personal needs within a safe environment.
