Job summary

Community Workshop and Training Center, Inc. in Illinois is seeking a Direct Support Person to support adults with disabilities by providing training and supervision, helping residents meet Discovery Plan goals, and maintaining a clean, home-like environment.

The role includes assisting with personal care, meals, mobility, transportation, safety, and daily living activities, along with documentation and adherence to mandated training and medication administration requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 18 years of age.
• Valid driver's license and current auto insurance (if shift requires).
• Experience working with adults with disabilities helpful.
• Must be able to complete DSP classes and pass, complete and maintain Medication Administration authorization.

Responsibilities

• Assist or perform programming to help residents with disabilities obtain Discovery Plan goals.
• Assist residents with maintaining personal hygiene by assisting with bathing, brushing hair and teeth or other self-care needs.
• Changing and washing soiled linens and/or clothing and assisting with laundry as needed.
• Participate on activities with residents including transportation of residents.
• Assist residents with mobility as needed.
• Assist with the preparation of or prepare meals for residents.
• Assist residents in maintaining a safe and sanitary bedroom and/or bathroom including making beds, putting personal items away and keeping floors clean and free of tripping hazards.
• Teach daily living skills, such as cooking, cleaning and shopping.
• Daily cleaning of facility, laundry, bed checks (if shift requires) and water temperature checks (if required).
• Medication administration.
• Complete required paperwork completely and accurately.
