Job summary

Envision Unlimited in Chicago is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with disabilities in a residential (CILA) setting. You will provide hands-on support for daily living tasks, medication management, transportation, and meal preparation.

This role requires staying calm during behavioral or medical emergencies and adhering to crisis prevention and safety procedures. The DSP will work under the CILA Manager with non-exempt, unionized employment terms.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Be able to pass a criminal background check.
• DSP experience preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist residents with personal grooming and appearance as necessary.
• Transport and accompany residents to appointments and other services, including day program sites, as needed.
• Supervise and assist residents in taking their medication in accordance with program guidelines.
• Assist residents in preparation of daily schedules including household chores and social activities.
• Perform cleaning and housekeeping duties (vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping).
• Monitor and assist residents with daily bedroom maintenance.
• Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies per Health and Safety procedures.
• Plan menus and assist with meal preparation.
• Perform other essential responsibilities as needed to meet program requirements.
