Job summary

DABS, Inc. is hiring Direct Support Professionals to join our mission-driven team in the Richmond area.

You will work in Personal Attendant (PA) or Skills Instructor (SI) roles, providing individualized support in home and community settings, helping adults with developmental disabilities lead more independent lives. The position requires 0–3 years of related experience, ability to follow care plans, strong communication and empathy, and a background check.

Qualifications

• 0-3 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and implement care plans.
• Maintain high standards of professional ethics, including punctual attendance.
• Provide care with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and respect for personal values.
• Communicate clearly and document observations accurately.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centered supervision in the individual’s home and community.
• Assist with ADLs: bathing, toileting, dressing, hygiene; prepare meals; light housekeeping.
• Supervise medication administration when needed.
• Escort or transport individuals to medical and personal appointments.
• Observe and report health, behavior, or environmental changes to supervisor.
• Complete daily logs and progress notes per DDS/Regional Center standards.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings as needed.
