Job summary

Hope Network / Garden Cove is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for 1st shift on-site in Lapeer, MI. This full-time role supports individuals in daily living, mobility, and community participation, helping them build independence and a meaningful career.

The DSP will monitor safety, assist with ADLs, and coordinate with care teams, providers, and community resources to promote wellness and independence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• Shift flexibility: full-time including weekends/holidays.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure safety 24/7 (eyes-on, one-on-one, checks).
• Support crisis prevention, intervention, and resolution.
• Establish trust through consistent, meaningful communication.
• Foster partnership with individuals served, community and professionals.
• Help build skills for problem-solving, communication and independence.
• Assist with social activities and ADLs (transport, bathing, dressing, cooking).
• Monitor vitals for medical conditions and illnesses.
• Attend medical appointments and relay information between providers and care team.
• Connect individuals with community opportunities for relationships.
