Job summary

Delta-T Group Massachusetts, Inc. seeks Direct Support Shelter Advocates to join a 24/7 team in Lowell, MA. The role supports homeless families, ensuring safety, basic services, and smooth daily shelter operations.

Shifts include 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am. Heritage of caring for vulnerable clients; CPR/First Aid certifications required; bilingual skills encouraged.

Qualifications

• Experience with homeless individuals or families, disabilities or at-risk populations.
• Ability to work independently and handle crises with good judgment and communication skills (written and oral).
• Current CPR and First Aid Certifications required.
• Must be able to ascend/descend stairs and move equipment; physical stamina for shelter work.
• Haitian or Spanish language skills encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and maintain appropriate social interactions with residents and assist residents as needed.
• Conduct rounds of shelter to maintain safety and security of residents.
• Assist with preparation, serving and cleanup of meals during the shift.
• Intervene if a resident is in crisis (medical, mental health, interpersonal).
• Complete assigned tasks of shift.
• Maintain order and cleanliness of the shelter.
• Attend and participate in monthly meetings and trainings.

Our Client is seeking Direct Support Shelter Advocates

SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY

This position is part of a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week team of professionals providing shelter and support for homeless families. We are responsible for the provision of basic services to clients and for the safe day-to-day operation of the shelter. The shelter is located in Lowell, MA.

Our client's current needs are for first shift (7am-3pm), second shift (3pm-11pm), and third shift (11pm-7am).

SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY

• Initiate and maintain appropriate social interactions with residents and assist residents as needed
• Conduct rounds of shelter to maintain safety and security of residents
• Assist with preparation, serving and cleanup of meals during the shift
• Intervene if a resident is in crisis (medical, mental health, interpersonal)
• Complete assigned tasks of shift
• Maintain order and cleanliness of the shelter
• Attend and participate in monthly meetings and any other client required trainings

CLIENT'S REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Previous work with homeless individuals and/or families, disabilities or other at-risk populations
• Ability to work alone and handle crises with good judgment, adequate communication skills - both written and oral
• Current CPR and First Aid Certifications
• Must be able to occasionally ascend/descend stairs up to three or more sets, frequently move equipment weighing up to 5-20 lbs., and remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
• Haitian or Spanish language skills encouraged to apply.
