Job summary

Delta-T Group Massachusetts, Inc. seeks Direct Support Shelter Advocates to join a 24/7 shelter team in Medford, MA. Immediate start with a goal to support families and move them toward independence while maintaining safety and operations of the shelter.

Responsibilities include engaging residents, conducting safety rounds, assisting with meals, and crisis intervention when needed. Prior experience with homeless populations is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience working with homeless individuals or at-risk populations is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and handle crises with good judgment and communication skills.
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and maintain appropriate social interactions with residents and assist as needed.
• Conduct rounds of shelter to maintain safety and security of residents.
• Assist with preparation, serving, and cleanup of meals during the shift.
• Intervene if a resident is in crisis (medical, mental health, interpersonal).
• Complete assigned tasks of shift and maintain shelter order and cleanliness.
• Monitor bedrooms, bathrooms, and dayrooms for safety and security.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and trainings as required.
• May assist with room cleanups and packing rooms.
