Job summary

Integrated Life Choices (ILC) is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities lead meaningful lives. DSPs support people at home, work sites, and in the community, promoting independence, safety, and self-advocacy.

You will document care after each shift, learn person-centered approaches, and collaborate with a team in a supportive, employee-owned environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Pass Nebraska/Central Registry background checks as applicable (per policy).
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Support people in understanding and exercising their rights.
• Encourage independent living and self-advocacy.
• Provide person-centered supports to meet individual needs.
• Promote social connections and participation in groups or activities.
• Provide transportation to appointments and activities.
• Document care at end of each shift.
• Teach life skills and daily living activities.
• Assist with personal hygiene and medical-related needs, including medication administration.

As a DSP, you will be responsible for maintaining consistent engagement with the people you are supporting, whether they are at home or out in the community. You will be required to work independently, create safe environments, and provide accurate documentation for the support provided during every shift. Some physical work examples could be but are not limited to:Intervening in aggressive situation and/or physically demanding responsibilitiesSupport with lifting individuals to and from wheelchairsSupporting a person to and from a showerUsing a gait belt in a safe and dignified wayProviding transportation for the people we support is an essential function of the DSP position.
