Job summary

Integrated Life Choices (ILC) is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in various settings. DSPs promote independence, participation, and community inclusion while documenting supports provided each shift.

The ideal candidate will be reliable, able to work independently, and comfortable assisting with daily living activities and transportation needs in home and community environments.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Background checks including state and national checks.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings.
• Maintain person-centered supports to promote independence and self-advocacy.
• Provide transportation and accompany individuals to activities and appointments.
• Complete accurate documentation of supports provided at the end of each shift.
• Support rights protection and positive social interactions.

As a DSP, you will be responsible for maintaining consistent engagement with the people you are supporting, whether they are at home or out in the community. You will be required to work independently, create safe environments, and provide accurate documentation for the support provided during every shift. Some physical work examples could be but are not limited to:Intervening in aggressive situation and/or physically demanding responsibilitiesSupport with lifting individuals to and from wheelchairsSupporting a person to and from a showerUsing a gait belt in a safe and dignified wayProviding transportation for the people we support is an essential function of the DSP position.
