It is a full‑time, daytime position with some flexibility for program needs. The role includes crisis support, medication oversight, and close collaboration with guardians and external agencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Active Maine driver’s license required.
• One year of healthcare experience and one year of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the direct care team and address employee performance under supervision of the Program Manager.
• Coordinate staffing to ensure safe facility coverage and timely scheduling.
• Assist residents with goals in their service plans and provide essential personal care.
• Support crisis situations with guidance to clients and staff.
• Oversee medication administration practices to ensure safety and compliance.
• Manage intake and discharge processes and maintain accurate clinical records.
• Collaborate with guardians and external agencies to ensure high‑quality services.

New Communities is seeking a talented professional to serve as a DSP Team Leader for our intellectual disability program supporting adults with intellectual challenges and other disabilities. This full‑time leadership position has limited supervisory responsibilities for residents and general oversight of direct care staff as the house manager. The Team Leader position is regularly scheduled Monday - Friday but at times, program needs would require flexibility.

Rate of pay ranges $21.00-$24.00/hour depending on certification and experience.

DSP Team Leader Responsibilities

• Team Supervision: Lead and supervise the direct care team, addressing employee performance issues with the support of the Program Manager.
• Staffing Coordination: Ensure safe and adequate facility coverage by coordinating staffing schedules.
• Resident Support: Assist residents in achieving their individual service plan goals, providing personal care and other essential support to enhance their quality of life.
• Crisis Management: Offer assistance and guidance to clients and staff during crisis situations.
• Medication Oversight: Oversee all medication administration practices and procedures to ensure compliance and safety.
• Intake & Discharge Facilitation: Manage the intake and discharge process for residents, maintaining accurate and up-to-date clinical records.
• Collaboration: Work closely with guardians and approved external agencies to ensure the delivery of high‑quality services.

The DSP Team Leader position requires flexibility and the ability to manage time and multiple tasks with varying deadlines and little supervision. Strong organizational, written and interpersonal communication as well as basic supervisory skills are essential.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• Active Maine driver’s license is required
• One year of experience in a healthcare setting and one year of supervisory experience preferred
• Must be able to communicate effectively with residents and coworkers whose primary language is English
• DSP, 40-hour CRMA, CPR/FA, and Behavioral Intervention Training required within 120 days after hire
