Job summary

WCBS is seeking a dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one skill development and support to individuals in Supported Community Living (SCL) in the Indianola and Norwalk areas, IA. The role starts as part-time with potential to transition to full-time as caseloads grow.

Responsibilities include home and community-based services, helping clients gain independence, and documenting progress.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently in home and community settings.
• Patience, compassion, dependability, and a commitment to helping others succeed.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one skill development services in home and community settings.
• Help individuals develop practical skills that promote independence and self-sufficiency.
• Support individuals in achieving goals outlined in their individualized service plans.
• Assist with skill-building activities related to daily living, community participation, appointments, shopping, recreation, and other personal goals.
• Provide transportation to support service plan goals and community activities.
• Build positive, professional relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries and promoting safety.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to challenging situations using individualized safety and self-care plans.
• Monitor progress toward goals and communicate updates or concerns to the Case Manager.
• Collaborate with Case Managers, families, and other members of the individual's support team.
• Complete accurate service documentation within required timeframes.
• Participate in weekly team meetings, supervision, and required training.
