Job summary

Merakey is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team at our program in Pemberton, NJ. The DSP helps individuals with daily living activities, fosters independence, and provides compassionate care under supervision.

Shifts include nights with a set schedule, and paid training is provided for all hires. Ideal candidates have a HS diploma, valid driver’s license, and at least 1 year of experience with individuals with developmental disabilities.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must have a verifiable High School diploma/G.E.D.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• 1 year experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
• Dual Diagnosis experience is preferred.
• NADD DSP Certification training within first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Support daily living activities and promote residents’ independence.
• Assist with housekeeping, laundry, and personal activities under supervision of the House Manager.
• Engage with residents to encourage, mentor, and coach toward goals and growth.

Be a part of fostering a true sense of pride in your individual by teaching them to navigate daily living activities, such as housekeeping and laundry. Your work is performed in accordance with appropriate procedures under the supervision of the House Manager who reviews results through living area observation of activities in progress, residents’ responsiveness, inspection of living area, reports, and periodic meetings. Make a difference in the life of those you work with to enhance their independence by assisting with daily and personal activities.
