Job summary

Youth Consultation Service (YCS) in Hackensack, NJ seeks a Direct Support Professional (Residential Assistant) for the Muller IRTS program. This part-time role supports youths ages 11-13 in a secure therapeutic environment and collaborates with case managers and clinicians to implement structured routines.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (psychology preferred) and at least 1 year of youth work experience, plus a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience working with youth in a behavioral group setting.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, organize, and support recreational and/or socialization activities.
• Lead milieu staff through youth’s structured routine with case manager, clinician, and prescriber.
• Engage and interact with youth based on behavioral intervention plans.
• Observe, document, and acknowledge positive behaviors.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Description

Muller IRTS (Intensive Residential Treatment Service Unit) - Provides a secure, safe therapeutic environment for boys and girls ages 11-13.

Duties include but are not limited to

• Supervise, organize, and support recreational and/or socialization activities
• Play an active role in leading the milieu staff through youth’s structured routine while collaborating with youth’s case manager, clinician, and prescriber
• Engage and interact with youth based on behavioral intervention plans
• Observing, documenting, and acknowledging positive behaviors
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

Bachelor level degree in a related social service field (Psychology, Sociology, Education, Public Health etc.), Psychology preferred with 1 year of experience working with youth.

Must have a valid driver's license.

Schedule: Weekdays or Weekends Part time or On-Call shifts.

Muller IRTS is a program of Youth Consultation Service (YCS), which is a behavioral health and social services agency that has been caring for at risk children and families since 1918 in therapeutic residences, special education schools, in-home and in-community programs throughout NJ.
