Job summary

YAI, a leading provider of residential and community supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, seeks Direct Support Professionals in Queens, NY. DSPs assist at homes, day centers and in the community, carrying out care plans with patience and person-centered approaches.

Locations include Kew Gardens and surrounding areas; schedules include full-time, part-time, weekdays and weekends, mornings, evenings and overnights.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Enthusiasm for supporting people with I/DD and maintaining patience and empathy.
• Ability to assist with ADLs and adapt to diverse needs.
• Must obtain SCIP-R within one year of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals to maximize strengths, goals and community connections.
• Ensure safety, supervision and adherence to plans and policies.
• Document services accurately for billing and records.
• Collaborate with team, manage crises using approved interventions.
• Transport and assist with activities and appointments as needed.
