Job summary

WellLife Network in New York seeks Direct Support Professionals to provide hands-on care and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities and other support needs. You’ll support daily living, health, mobility, behavior, and community engagement in home and community settings.

Responsibilities include documentation, collaboration with healthcare teams, and promoting independence. Requirements include a high school diploma, English fluency, and a NYS driver’s license for driving roles.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalency diploma required.
• Fluent in English for client communication.
• A valid New York State Driver’s License with at least 2 years of driving experience (required for driving positions).
• Comfort operating a large vehicle (for driving positions).
• Experience supporting adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Personal Care & Daily Living Support: Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting; help with meals and household chores; create a safe home environment.
• Health & Wellness: Administer medications as directed; support medical appointments and treatment plans.
• Mobility & Accessibility: Assist with walking, transfers, and mobility aids; ensure safe navigation of environments.
• Behavioral & Emotional Support: Implement respectful strategies to support behaviors; provide encouragement and reassurance.
• Community & Social Engagement: Plan and participate in recreational, educational, and social activities; encourage community involvement.
• Communication & Advocacy: Help individuals express themselves; advocate for needs and access to services.
• Collaboration & Documentation: Partner with healthcare providers and team; maintain accurate daily notes and reports in electronic systems.
