Job summary

Bancroft is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide quality care for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities in Newark, Delaware. The DSP will work shifts including Thursday 2p-10p, Friday 2p-10p, and Saturday 8a-10p.

The role involves implementing behavioral plans, assisting with daily living activities, teaching life skills, and accompanying clients to appointments and outings. A valid driver's license and HS diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver’s License in the candidate’s legal name and current address; one year minimum driving experience.
• Minimum of six months related work experience OR Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in a degree program in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Carry out behavioral treatment plans and collect direct observational data.
• Assist with daily living activities including personal hygiene, meal preparation, money management, and housekeeping.
• Teach daily living and functional skills to help individuals achieve personal goals and transition to less restrictive settings.
• Accompany individuals to healthcare appointments and community outings; provide safe transportation.
• Resolve problem behavior situations and apply safe crisis techniques per Bancroft standards.
• Complete paperwork and maintain regular communication with residents, parents/guardians and other family members.
