Job summary

SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) is hiring a Direct Support Professional I for the McKinney-Community Residential Care Facility in Mauldin, SC. The role provides care to residents, assists with daily living activities, and supports the treatment team in therapeutic and rehabilitative activities.

Responsibilities include following policies, assisting with medications, and helping with meals and daily living tasks.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
• Must have physical ability to lift up to twenty pounds and perform daily living tasks.
• Must be able to work in a residential facility or assisted living home.
• Must have valid driver's license and ability to drive a state vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to SCOMH and DHEC written rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ensure the health and safety of individuals with mental illness. Provide direct hands-on individual care. Guide residents in daily living activities (teeth brushing, bathing, dressing, etc.). Engage residents in daily group activities and complete required documentation.
• Assist residents in medication administration and compliance.
• Assist in transportation and monitoring of residents to medical appointments and community programs. Obtain documentation of appointments for medical compliance.
• Perform CRCF cleaning duties and assist in meal preparation.
