Job summary

Devereux New Jersey is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help adults with autism and developmental disabilities build independence and daily living skills in residential or day programs. You will join a supportive team, receive training and management support, and be eligible for growth opportunities, comprehensive benefits, and ASCEND student loan repayment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid, non-provisional driver's license preferred.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Two-week paid orientation (hybrid and in-person).
• Sound judgment and calm decision-making.
• Empathy and teamwork in supporting adults with autism and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct Support Professionals may work in residential group homes or vocational day programs.
• Help ensure the safety, health, and well-being of individuals in our care.
• Coach and assist individuals as they build daily living skills (food prep, cooking, cleaning, shopping).
• Support planning, implementation, and documentation of programs addressing social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.
• Plan and participate in community-based employment, day program activities, and outings.
• Build positive relationships with families to support wellbeing.
• Safely transporting individuals to appointments and activities.
